I find it odd that people who aren't working (and I don't mean people who are in need of work, those that choose not to work) are the first ones to say 'TGIF'. Why is that? It's not like they had a harrowing work week and are relieved to be at the end of it. Every day is a day off. And what about people who work through the weekend. You don't see them typing 'TGIM' if they have Monday off. They just leave.
Secondly, I'm exploring/applying to start an MBA program. Most likely it will be an EMBA program, but there are promising part-time programs out there as well. I'll be a Lieutenant Commander soon, so I'll have to move forward on some reserve career decisions as well.
Finally, I'm off for a trip and won't be back for a week. I should be able to post while out and about, so we'll see how that goes.
For all the things that SixApart did to kill Vox, I'm very wary of having them for my new blog. I may move to Tumblr or Posterous. I'm not too fond of WordPress - I am not sure they will ever have the communal atmosphere that Vox once did.
After Vox, I steered clear of all 6A sites like diseased roadkill. WP doesn't have that "community feel" that Vox had in its early day. Here's another perspective for you: that same community feel also has morphed into cliques and clubbiness. That's fine for others, not me, so I welcome the WP expansiveness as an opportunity to move away from that and forge new paths and meet new people.
I hear ya on the TGIF. I'm one of the unemployed (2+ years!) not by choice -- and miserable for it. I'd give anything to get up Monday morning and have a job to go to. Monday Morning blues? Bah, humbug!
