I work for a North American arm of a Japanese company. Though their facilities in Japan were not affected directly (they are in the south, the earthquake in the north), they are impacted by the devastation in a lot of ways.
I received two emails from similar management from a manager - one expressing sympathy and cancelling any current meetings; the other asking what the impact is to their project.
One has perspective, the other does not. You're going to understand the impact without having to ask for it. Just take a step back and actually look beyond your Outlook Calendar.
