I read about some tidbits about a game called 'Sword and Sworcery' so I checked it out on my iPad.
Here's a look:
It's very isoteric, using a sort of pixel/retro game/lego approach. It's also got a very distinct touch interface and audio soundtrack. All in all, it's a refreshing change in the way you play a video game. Except for the small fight sequences and wandering, it felt very little like a game. It's also very tongue-in-cheek, at nearly a 3rd grade level. Characters named Girl, Logfella (for the lumberjack) and Dogfella (for the dog that leads you around occasionally) and objects named Megatome (for the book/internal twitter app). It has a meta feel about it: it uses modern language and snarky comments, but it doesn't try to take away from what you're doing. Rather, it reflects what you'd normally be thinking if you've played enough fantasy RPGs.
Is it worth the $5? It was when for the time I was immersed. Try it out.
